About Us
In 2018 a group of Norton residents came together to form the Norton Community Development Group. The goal of this group was to work with the Church in Wales, in remodelling St Andrews Church, to make it a venue suitable for community functions in addition to its religious services.
In 2019 this changed when the Church in Wales declared St Andrews Church redundant and closed its doors. Not deterred by this setback the Norton Community Development Group made the decision to carry on its work, now adapting this former church building into a community hub (with limited non-denominational services). In line with its new goal the Norton Community Development Group decided to change its name to Norton Community Trust.
In 2020 Norton Community Trust approached Presteigne and Norton Community Trust (PNCT) as it was believed that this project could benefit from the experience of this organisation. Presteigne and Norton Community Trust have been registered as a private company limited by guarantee without share capital since 22nd March 1995 (No. 03036686) and have recently become a registered charity (No. 1195888). It was agreed that creating a community hub in Norton fell under its remit and PNCT adopted the project; with the Norton Community Trust retaining responsibility for detailed project planning and implementation. In January 2021 two members of the Norton Community Trust joined the board of the Presteigne and Norton Community Trust.
